Pony Fortress 2 by Metal-Kitty Pony Fortress 2 by Metal-Kitty
So yes! Here's my re-envisioning of the MLP characters as TF2 classes! Why? Because I had nothing better to do! I kept four characters as their usual classes, but the rest I kinda flipped around and switched at my own leisure.

I actually have reasons for each class - I was very purposeful in putting who where!

Twilight Sparkle (Medic Sparkle)
I picked a Medic for Twilight because it was more fitting for her, character and skill-wise. Twilight is a scientific mind, and it has been said of the Medic that the 'healing' nature of his experiments are mere side-effects. His scientific enthusiasm, I felt, made him and Twilight a perfect match-up!

Fluttershy (Flutterpyro)
Now, this might seem a stretch, but bare with me; all of the classes have some method of murder. Even the Medic comes with his needle guns and his bonesaws. Only one class, however, has the dillusion (that I am aware of) of doing GOOD. Perhaps in a fit of insanity or drug-enduced hallucination, Fluttershy blows rainbows at her friends (shoots fire at her enemies) and tickles them silly (burns them to death).

Applejack (Sniperjack)
Complete with "Apple Juice", I figured the Sniper's hunter history, his patience, and his code of sniping (be efficient, be polite, have a plan to kill everyone you meet) was somehow fitting for Applejack. Plus, a hat!

Derpy (Solderp)
What else? A close runner up with Braeburn, I had to pick Derpy because... well... Derpy is fun! Plus, I can picture her saying "Take that, Bablo Babbins!" and "Look out! He's got a book!"

Pinkie Pie (Engie-Pie)
Pinkie is random; everyone knows this. Her randomness may not fit the Engineer personality-wise, but his method of setting up sentry nests does. Armed with her Sentry-model Party Cannons and her Party Favor Dispensers (Pinkie-Porter not shown here), Pinkie is ready to throw a little party for all her friends to enjoy when they need a break from blowing each other to pony-bits!

Then, of course, we got the other four, who are in more common match-ups.

Big Mac (Heavy Weapons McIntosh)
Fitting for his heavy build, implied physical strength, and giant size. It wouldn't be right to do this without the iconic brony.

Rainbow Dash (Rainbow Scout)
Fast, able to jump high, and headstrong. Seriously, who else could I match her up with? Probably Demoman. Then again, I coulda made Applejack the Soldier... 'twould have made sense. Hindsight is 20/20.

Rarity (Rarispy)
With a more 'professional' attire, a sabatour way of combat, and a more 'delicate' touch, the Spy remains ideal for Rarity. Plus, she can insult ponies' fashion sense while disguised as them.

Zecora (Demozebra)
A nack for mixing is the bread and butter of both the Demoman and Zecora (even if they tend to mess with considerably different chemicals) not to mention Zecora strikes me as having a great deal of physical prowess.

EDIT:
A lot of people are actually ARGUING with me about this, pointing out who they think fits better with what class - fun fact, most of them associate others to classes they don't fit. Not sure if it's from an act of favoritism or simply an act of 'I don't like change' because most, if not all, of the complainers are using the popular concept.

Folks, I feel I should point out I INTENTIONALLY IGNORED the popular concepts. Why? Because I like my idea better and view the popular concept as fundamentally flawed. What does Twilight have in common with Sniper (no, sniping is NOT math, it's calculating, yes, but that barely scratches the surface of her character). What does Fluttershy have in common with Medic? Healing? What about the immoral experiments, the killing tools, and turning her allies into death machines? I disagree - she'd make a better Sniper than Twilight, really. Psycho Pinkie just got old, so I put her somewhere I felt worked just as well.

So yes, so EVERYONE KNOWS, I DO KNOW THE POPULAR CONCEPT. I just don't like it, and tried to use a little more sense in where I put who.

Also. Yes, I left Spike out. Why? Because babies don't belong on the battle field. I don't care how mature they are. Deal with it.

can i ask something?

I love to know more about this project and what inspired you to give the roles to the ponies you gave them to.

like why is fluttershy the Pyro and not Pinkie?

Well, in my favored linup, Fluttershy is Sniper.

However, here, I've made it in the description; Pyro is the only class that seems to be able to ignore the fact anyone is actually being harmed.  Even the Medic has his bonesaws and needle guns (both of which are psychologically terrifying weapon ideas) and promotes war through healing; the Pyro is the only one who seems to be under the illusion he's doing good.

Pinkie Pyro? Just kind of boring.  You got Pyrovision, but that's the end of it; afterwards, you got Pinkie limited to a mumble and being a highly predictable W+M1 class (yes I'm aware you can also airblast people; still nothing special, amazing, or fun).

i guess when you put it like that it makes sense but couldn't that go the same for most of the other ponies to? or do you think not because the rest fit the role they have so well. such as rainbow scout and Heavy Mac.

Personally i like the the Flutter sniper set up seeing how you used angel bunny makes sense given how he can munipulate fluttershy to such a degree it has added to some fan hatered of the character

Oh, I'm certain all of them could fill any role if you really set your mind to it.  I just wanted to put them in roles that did not heavily alter or sacrifice character traits as the popular lineup does.

Shy, panics under pressure, hates limelight... so she should run around in the battle field being shot at (target numero uno) having to keep track of all her friends' states of health?

Eh, to each his own, I guess.

I personally favor Twilight as Medic; leads the team in pushes and retreats, super powerful science(magic?), a tad unhinged, and can totally rock a labcoat. :D

It seems like weird combo and I was just wondering how that will turn out.  Also because I watch the Mentally Advanced series.  Another idea: Angel Bunny soldier.  Thoughts, anyone?

Well, while I love Mentally Advanced Series, I need a better reason than an accent to make such a crossover.  I don't really know if Spike and Demo would fit - I mean, they wouldn't *not* fit, but there's nothing particularly matching between the two either.

You felt the need to tell me my match-ups are wrong; so let me return the favor. :)

Fluttershy, while kind, has never shown any of the traits that define the Medic; she is much too reserved for his function of 'running around and being a primary target' and is among the least scientifically inclined ponies.

Twilight as Sniper is horribly stupid and limited; it ignores almost every aspect of Twilight to focus on 'weaponized math', when there's two classes that are by their very design smarter than Sniper himself.  Plus, it always bugged me having Twilight as a Sniper and Fluttershy is Medic; in that lineup, Fluttershy, the local tree hugger, is more important (and effective) than Ponyville's resident sorceress.

Pinkie Pyro is boring.  It eliminates all traces of Pinkie to subjugate them with Pyro.  Pinkie is a fun, hyperactive, energetic, loud, and multitalented character; Pyro burns things, mumbles, and lives life in a constant hallucination.

Spike as Soldier never made sense.  The end.

Apple-Engie only makes sense when you make the comparison because of Engi's accent; which, while southern, is not the same regional dialect as Applejack (Engi's is a texan accent, Applejack's is a little more Ozark/Missouri.  Applejack is a tough, capable fighter, while Engi's squishy as jelly.

Who is the original creator? Far as I can tell, it was something that simply became normalized because nobody cared to argue it. :) Then after an extensive time of being the norm, people would argue in defense of it instead.

I ignored that thing because it made no sense; Twilight Sparkle is a magician and a scientist - having her just shoot things is lame and unappreciative of her as a character.  Fluttershy is a tree hugger, is afraid of fighting, and very anti-social; the Sniper fits well for all of that (and his method of killing could be seen as the most merciful; even the Medic kills with needles and a bonesaw, which I imagine not to be a pleasant way to die).  Applejack is tough and something of a more direct fighter; relying on engineer constructs doesn't seem to fit her character in my own opinion.

The thing about the common matchups is that they play off of stereotypes rather than a more thoughtful application of character.  I didn't care for that. :P

Well, whatever it was, I'm ignoring it, because it's a tenuous grasp at best; I like my match-ups a lot more.  :)

Fluttershy doesn't strike me as the 'cut them open and give them a baboon heart' type individual.  Or a mad scientist for that matter.  She's a tree hugger.

Which is funny, because these choices make just as much sense - if not more sense than - the common one. :P A lot of them have strained reasonings at best (Pinkie Pyro, Apple-Engie, Demo-Zecora) while some make no real sense at all (Twilight Sniper, Spike Soldier).  Being a guy that likes well thought out crossovers, I sought to do better.

Buuut I'm sure you don't care to hear my rant. XD;

I basically ignored the classic lineup entirely, and crunched numbers to come up with what I felt was a superior one (though sometimes I wonder if I should have had DemoDash, Soldier-Jack and Derpy Scout).  In the end, it came down to two big things; skills and themes.  The Medic is a surgeon and a scientist with a magical heal gun - Twilight.  The Sniper is a loner who likes to stay away from the brunt of conflict and finds himself at home in the wilderness - Fluttershy.  The Demoman is a guy who loves his family, loves what he does (to the point of not wanting to do anything else) and isn't afraid to get up close and personal - Applejack.

I get a lot of flak for my choices, but I still like them more.  Admittedly, part of me wishes I'd see more people take an appreciation for them and draw them and stuff, but I guess you can't win 'em all. :)

Recently thought up a new lineup:

- Scout: Rainbow Dash: Obvious
- Soldier: Derpy: Obvious
- Pyro: Spike: Obvious
- Heavy: Applejack: Certainly stronger than most ponies, and like Heavy, her ethnicity has often made her mistaken for a dunce. Well, they're not. Also, appetite of a full-grown stallion.
- Demoman: Pinkie Pie: Hot-blooded, yet precise. Everything goes as planned for her. And of course, what's a party without EXPLOSIONS?
- Engineer: Shining Armor: Obviously as a Defense class. As Captain of the Guard, he'd make sure bases are covered. Also, with my choice of enemy Spy (Chrysalis)...
- Sniper: Fluttershy: Quiet, prefers to attack at a distance.
- Medic: Twilight Sparkle: A mare of science, and has some VERY eccentric moments.
- Spy: Rarity: Obvious.

- Other Scout: Lightning Dust: Obvious.
- Other Soldier: Rover: Arrogance, and all the stock Diamond Dogs would do well in a Meet the Medic scenario.
- Other Pyro: Garble: A dragon for a dragon, I suppose.
- Other Heavy: Iron Will: Obvious.
- Other Demoman: Sunset Shimmer: Mainly filling gaps, but she was mostly focused on being the strongest, more like a warrior instead of a princess.
- Other Engineer: Flam: Obvious.
- Other Sniper: Trixie: She lives in a wagon! {Spy-laugh}
- Other Medic: Prince Blueblood: Mainly just filling in gaps, but he doesn't seem to want to get his hooves dirty much.
- Other Spy: Queen Chrysalis: Obvious.

Ha ha ha, you didn't read the description. :)

Also, I don't think Pinkie would, for certain, be *ANY* class because, due to randomness, she could fit them all! I mean, really, think of ANY class that wouldn't fit her.

Engineer would fit her because Pinkie has given no reason to think she can't be brilliant (I often wonder if she builds her various party-gadgets!) I think people set Pinkie as Pyro originally just because of her episode of depression in one episode and they equated her to being psychotic.
