No they aren't - and that doesn't matter. As I said, I focused on trivial concepts only if there was a tie; it didn't even come close.
There were fundimental concepts I focused on; personality traits, habbits, and known skill. Fluttershy fits the 'healing' aspect of the Medic, but that's where the similarities begin and end; a trademark aspect of her character is shyness. She avoids conflict whenever possible. Another trait of hers is that she's a nature lover; which is somewhat conflicting with the Medic who seems more content to perform weird experiments that gives him a bird head. The Sniper is known to have spent a lot of time in nature.
I disconsidered Flutters as Medic because while she likes to be helpful, she also likes to avoid confrontation as much as possible. Honestly, I would likely make Flutters the Engineer before I made her Medic for the sole fact that the Engi can heal and also avoid combat while still being useful.
Plus, the Ubercharges reminded me too much of magic; this sort of narrowed it to Twilight (the local magician) and Zecora (the witch-doctor) in my mind.
Flutters is cute once again, and Pinkie made me smile once again! I have no idea how much they all differ/align to the game characters, but I'm sure your comics are way more awesome! ...I don't like 3D-shooters anyway!
I love all the comments so far... I also love all the comics so far. I also like how you take the time to explain why you step out of the norm on the character crossovers. It makes me smile to see someone else look deeper than surface similarities.
I don't even get the surface similarities of some. It's like Twilight Sparkle, Spike, and Pinkie Pie were put into roles for lack of anywhere else to put them. Meanwhile, AJ and Flutters had strenuous ties to the classes picked for them at best. I had to make sense, and to not only do that but have the most fun, I stepped out of the norm, kicked it in the groin, and laughed at it for several minutes.
The decision wasn't popular, if the lack of notice on Equestria Daily is any hint, but I stand by it nontheless.
I believe the lack of notice on Equestria Daily is mainly due to the maturity of your content (gore and whatnot). They try to keep everything PG (e.g. putting links to saucy pictures, and not exposing the actual picture) and kid-friendly, in case any minors stumble across their page.
Wait, what am I saying?! I just remembered that I found your dA page and your comics through EQD, because your Spyro comic was featured there recently. www.equestriadaily.com/2013/09…
Oh, I get on EqD alright, buuut people seem to prefere in general not to talk about what I'm producing. XD Of course, maybe it is the PG stuff as opposed to the actual dislike of my class choices - also maybe a general not-caring-for of TF2 in general maybe?
TBH, EQD is a cool place to get highlighted, but word of mouth and beating the cyberstreets is still a good way to get your work out there. I started watching you when you were doing that long comic stream where the ponies actually got physically injured. I liked how you weren't afraid to add a little red back into the color wheel of our pastel pony world. The crossover stuff is entertaining too. I'm only wondering when the other comic will come of hiatus. Did you just lose your steam on it, man? I know it wasn't anywhere -near- done with all the hints you were dropping in the threads of it all.
